Giving All Colorado Children an Equal Opportunity to Thrive

oneINeight.png

One in 8 Colorado children are affected by some type of social, emotional or behavioral challenges or developmental delays. Unless they receive needed supports, they will struggle to reach their full potential.

The Window

Eighty percent of a child’s brain growth occurs by age 3. This critical early window offers the greatest opportunity to help children build skills and knowledge through early identification and support for developmental needs.

The Work

ABCD is a statewide nonprofit focused on improving the lives of Colorado children through early identification of developmental needs. We educate, equip and partner with the frontline primary care, early childhood and community agencies who serve children and families.

The Impact

With support from ABCD, Colorado has become a leader in providing developmental screenings, yet half of Colorado children still go without those vital services.

ABCD is committed to closing the gap. Since 2006, we've increased the number of primary care practices that screen and refer children by 1,200%.

The Stories

In partnership with communities and frontline providers, we're making it easier for families to access support in those early years, when it matters most.

Read stories from our partners, and from the families whose children are thriving, thanks to the early identification and intervention services they received.
